"Recommendations"

During a rally on August 18 Senator McCain stated:

“Behind all of these claims and positions by Senator Obama lies the ambition to be president." -Senator McCain

Yet, in his own Memoir "Worth the Fighting For" Senator McCain stated:

"...In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. . . . In truth, I'd had the ambition for a long time." -Senator McCain

This is the subject of a blog post here:

Senator Obama responded saying that he loves America. It is not effective to simply defend yourself when you have the opportunity to counter. What Senator McCain said was hypocrisy to the very definition of the word. Senator Obama MUST call Senator McCain out on his comments. It is the nature a campaign that when an accusation is not responded to correctly the accusation remains true regardless of if its true or not. Senator Obama MUST mention Senator McCain's "flip flops" or go to the heart of what it is: hypocrisy.

In terms of domestic policy Senator Obama is ahead however when the argument shifts to foreign policy Senator Obama is behind.

On August 18 Senator McCain said to the VFW:

"Though victory in Iraq is finally in sight, a great deal still depends on the decisions and good judgment of the next president. The hard one gains of our troops hang in the balance, the lasting advantage of a peaceful and democratic ally in the heart of the Middle East could still be squandered by hasty withdrawal and arbitrary timelines. And this is one of many problems in the shifting positions of my opponent, Senator Obama." -Senator McCain

Yet on May 22, 2003 on the Senate floor McCain stated:

"We won a massive victory in a few weeks, and we did so with very limited loss of American and allied lives. We were able to end aggression with minimum overall loss of life, and we were even able to greatly reduce the civilian casualties of Afghani and Iraqi citizens." -Senator McCain

Keith Olberman is the only news anchor that I know of to have reported on this in his show "Countdown" on August 18th:

Senator Obama must call Senator McCain out for his lack of judgement as he was saying a war was over prematurely (It's still going on just to remind you) after HE voted for it. Keep in mind the Iraq war is against international law under the United Nations that the United States worked so hard to create in 1947. Senator Obama must use simple yet effective attacks against McCain. Perhaps saying "Senator McCain does not know when a war is over" will be effective.

Today what McCain said, if used effectively can shift the race overwhelmingly in Senator Obama's favor. When at a rally today a woman suggested that if elected president Senator McCain should bring back the draft, McCain's response?:

"Ma'am, let me say that I don't disagree with anything you said."

That alone can change the political front dramatically if touched upon in the proper way, constantly saying that McCain is willing to bring back the draft is perfectly fair game, its not fear mongering, Senator McCain said it himself.

There is no lack of things to attack Senator McCain on, its the way that Obama's use those attacks that will be Senator Obama's trump card. The American people will not condemn Senator Obama for attacking Senator McCain as Obama chooses to run a different campaign.

For the hypocrisy/"flip-flopping"/ lack of judgment argument Senator Obama MUST give examples because the GOP will swiftly question Senator Obama on his reasons for the accusation.

On the argument that Senator McCain wants to bring back the draft, Senator Obama must continue to hit on that issue.
